Phu Chi Fah Forest Park

Phu Chi Fah Chiang Rai, Thailand

Phu Chi Fah Forest Park High up in the majestic mountain range of Doi Pah Mohn on the border of Laos, is Phu Chi Fah. At 1,628 meters above sea level, this is one of the most popular attractions for visitors during the winter months when the weather is cool. During the months of December and January, it occasionally becomes very cold. It covers approximately 2,500 rai and was declared a Forest Park in 1998. It is extremely popular with Thai tourists from Bangkok and can be crowded in the winter months, especially on weekends. There is a breathtaking, sheer cliff located in Thoeng District, about 114 km from Chiang Rai. Most visitors spend the night at the nearby Baan Rom Fah Thong, about 1.5 km away, and, early the next morning, walk 760 meters up the slope to reach the observation point to see the spectacular sea of fog that settles in the valleys at dawn. In February, there is an annual festival to celebrate the white bauhinia blooms (known as Dok Siao Kao locally) that can be seen around Phu Chi Fah .
